Which companies sponsor visas for AI ML engineers in Delaware?
Financial institutions with large Delaware presences, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Barclays, have filed H-1B petitions for machine learning and AI engineering roles. DuPont and Incyte also sponsor for data science and applied AI positions within their R&D divisions. Delaware's corporate-friendly registration environment means many holding companies and fintech firms maintain legal entities here, though their engineering teams may operate across multiple states.
Which visa types are most common for AI ML engineer roles in Delaware?
H-1B is the most common visa category for AI/ML engineers in Delaware. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT can work while an H-1B petition is pending. L-1B visas apply when an engineer transfers from a foreign affiliate of a Delaware-based employer. O-1B is rarely used for this role type.
Which cities in Delaware have the most AI ML engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the large majority of AI/ML engineering activity in Delaware, driven by its concentration of financial services and corporate headquarters. Newark, home to the University of Delaware, sees some hiring tied to research partnerships and tech-adjacent employers near the campus. Dover has minimal activity in this discipline. Many Delaware-based employers also post hybrid or partial-remote arrangements, which broadens where candidates can realistically be located.
How to find ai ml engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search AI/ML engineer roles in Delaware without manually screening out employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from financial services firms, pharma companies, and tech employers operating in Wilmington and Newark. Filtering by Delaware and the AI/ML engineer category gives you a focused list of roles where sponsorship is part of the hiring offer.
Are there state-specific factors AI ML engineers should know about Delaware sponsorship hiring?
Delaware's employer base skews heavily toward financial services and life sciences rather than traditional tech, which shapes what AI/ML engineering roles look like in practice. Many positions involve applied ML within risk modeling, fraud detection, or drug discovery rather than core infrastructure work. The University of Delaware's pipeline feeds some local hiring, particularly for research-oriented roles. Employers filing H-1B petitions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Wilmington metropolitan area, which are set at a higher threshold than rural Delaware rates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai ml engineer jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
