Which companies sponsor visas for cloud support engineers in Illinois?
Several large Illinois employers have consistent H-1B sponsorship records for cloud support roles. Motorola Solutions, Salesforce, Discover Financial Services, and Advocate Health Care have filed LCAs for cloud infrastructure positions in recent years. Chicago-based consulting firms including Accenture and Deloitte also sponsor cloud support engineers, as do technology contractors serving the city's financial services and healthcare sectors.
Which visa types are most common for cloud support engineer roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cloud support engineers in Illinois, requiring employer sponsorship and a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Candidates already holding TN visa status (Canadians and Mexicans in qualifying STEM roles) may also qualify. Some employers sponsor L-1B visas for intracompany transferees with specialized cloud platform knowledge moving into Illinois-based teams.
Which cities in Illinois have the most cloud support engineer sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of cloud support engineer sponsorship jobs in Illinois, particularly in the Loop, River North, and West Loop tech corridors. Schaumburg and Lisle in the northwest suburbs host technology operations centers for companies like Motorola Solutions and IBM, generating additional sponsorship opportunities. Urbana-Champaign occasionally produces roles tied to University of Illinois research computing infrastructure, though volume is much lower than Chicago.
How to find cloud support engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse cloud support engineer openings in Illinois without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by location to focus on Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Because cloud support roles often require platform certifications like AWS, Azure, or GCP, highlighting those credentials on your profile helps surface the most relevant Illinois employer matches on Migrate Mate.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for cloud support engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Illinois employers filing H-1B Labor Condition Applications must pay the prevailing wage for cloud support roles in the Chicago metropolitan statistical area, which the Department of Labor sets higher than many other Midwest metros given the city's competitive tech market. Illinois also has a strong university pipeline through University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and IIT, meaning employers sponsoring cloud support engineers are often familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions for recent graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud support engineer jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
