Which companies sponsor visas for cloud support engineers in Washington?
Microsoft and Amazon are the most active sponsors for cloud support engineers in Washington, given their large cloud platform divisions headquartered in the Seattle metro. Google, Salesforce, and Oracle also maintain significant Washington offices with support engineering teams. Beyond these, mid-size cloud and SaaS companies in the Bellevue and Redmond corridors regularly file H-1B visa petitions for cloud support roles.
Which visa types are most common for cloud support engineer roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud support engineers in Washington. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation when it requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico may qualify under TN visa status. Some employers also sponsor for O-1 visas for candidates with exceptional credentials.
How to find cloud support engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search cloud support engineer roles in Washington without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. Employers like Microsoft, Amazon, and Salesforce post cloud infrastructure and support engineering openings frequently in the Seattle and Bellevue area. Searching Migrate Mate by role and state helps you identify which companies are actively hiring and sponsoring at any given time.
Which cities in Washington have the most cloud support engineer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Bellevue account for the large majority of cloud support engineer sponsorship jobs in Washington. Redmond is particularly notable as Microsoft's global headquarters, making it one of the densest concentrations of cloud engineering roles in the country. Kirkland hosts Google's largest engineering office outside California. Smaller clusters exist in Tacoma and Olympia, but the Seattle metro corridor is where sponsoring employers are concentrated.
Are there any Washington-specific considerations for cloud support engineer visa sponsorship?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since DOL wage determinations are based on gross salary and the tax environment influences offer structures. Washington's cloud job market is heavily tied to hyperscaler hiring cycles at Microsoft and Amazon, meaning sponsorship volume can shift with their headcount decisions. University of Washington and Washington State University also feed engineering talent pipelines that many sponsoring employers in the state actively recruit from.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud support engineer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
