Which companies in Texas sponsor visas for cloud support engineers?
Several large Texas-based employers have established track records of sponsoring work visas for cloud support engineers. Dell Technologies in Round Rock, AT&T in Dallas, and Amazon Web Services across multiple Texas locations are consistent sponsors. Oracle, IBM, and Rackspace (headquartered in San Antonio) also hire for these roles with sponsorship. Technology consulting firms like Accenture and Cognizant with significant Texas operations are active sponsors as well.
Which visa types are most common for cloud support engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for cloud support engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA. Australian citizens may be eligible for the E-3 visa. L-1 visa transfers are also used when candidates are moving within a multinational employer.
Which cities in Texas have the most cloud support engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads the state for cloud support engineer sponsorship opportunities, driven by its dense concentration of technology companies and regional headquarters. Dallas-Fort Worth is close behind, with strong demand from enterprise IT, financial services, and telecom employers. Houston contributes significant volume through energy-sector cloud adoption and large healthcare systems. San Antonio, home to Rackspace and a growing cybersecurity sector, is also worth targeting.
How to find cloud support engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse cloud support engineer roles in Texas without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces opportunities from employers with documented sponsorship histories, which is particularly useful in Texas given how spread out hiring activity is across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Filtering by role and state on Migrate Mate narrows the search considerably.
Are there any Texas-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for cloud support engineers?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations used in H-1B Labor Condition Applications, since the Department of Labor uses metro-area data rather than state tax rates. Austin's rapid growth has pushed prevailing wages upward in recent years, meaning employers must offer competitive compensation to file compliant LCAs. The University of Texas system and Texas A&M produce a large pipeline of STEM graduates, so competition for sponsored roles can be significant in Austin and College Station.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud support engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
