Which education employers in Illinois sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas?
Illinois education employers with a documented history of H-1B1 visa and related specialty occupation sponsorship include the University of Illinois system, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, DePaul University, and Chicago Public Schools for specialist roles. EdTech companies headquartered in Chicago, such as curriculum and learning-platform firms, also sponsor international professionals when the role requires a directly related bachelor's degree or higher.
Which cities in Illinois have the most education H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the largest share of education H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, driven by its concentration of private universities, community colleges, and EdTech employers. Evanston adds roles tied to Northwestern University, while Champaign-Urbana is significant for University of Illinois positions in research, instructional technology, and academic administration. Springfield occasionally lists state-agency education roles that qualify as specialty occupations.
What types of education roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Roles that typically meet the H-1B1 visa specialty occupation standard in education include instructional designers, curriculum developers, education data analysts, academic researchers, assessment specialists, and learning technology engineers. The position must require at least a bachelor's degree in a specifically related field. General teaching assistant or adjunct roles without a direct degree requirement are less likely to qualify, while tenure-track faculty and research scientist positions generally do.
How do I find education H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings specifically by visa type, including H-1B1 Singapore, and by industry, so you can isolate education roles in Illinois without sifting through unsponsored postings. Listings on Migrate Mate reflect employers with verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, giving you a clearer signal of genuine sponsorship intent at Illinois universities, EdTech companies, and school districts before you apply.
Are there Illinois-specific considerations for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship in education?
Illinois has no state-level visa sponsorship requirement beyond federal H-1B1 visa rules, but state-funded institutions such as University of Illinois campuses must comply with Illinois prevailing wage and public-records obligations tied to DOL filings. Private K-12 schools and non-accredited training providers may have fewer established sponsorship processes, so confirming that a prospective employer has prior LCA filing experience in education is a practical first step for Singaporean applicants.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Singapore education jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
