Which energy companies in Illinois have sponsored H-1B1 Singapore visas?
Illinois energy employers with documented H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship history include Exelon and its subsidiary ComEd, BP's Midwest operations, and Invenergy, one of the country's larger independent clean energy developers headquartered in Chicago. Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), which coordinates grid operations across the region, has also filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles relevant to Singapore nationals.
Which Illinois cities have the most energy H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs?
Chicago and its suburbs, particularly Warrenville, Naperville, and Oakbrook Terrace, account for the largest share of Illinois energy sponsorship activity, as most utility and clean energy corporate headquarters are based there. Decatur and Peoria see more modest activity tied to industrial energy and power generation. Springfield, as the state capital, hosts regulatory and policy-facing energy roles that occasionally require specialty occupation sponsorship.
What types of energy roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship in Illinois?
Roles that consistently meet the H-1B1 visa specialty occupation standard in the energy sector include electrical engineers, power systems analysts, grid operations engineers, environmental compliance specialists, energy data analysts, and renewable energy project engineers. Positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental science, or a closely related technical field are the most straightforward to qualify. Generalist or trades-based roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How do I find energy H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type, so you can search for H-1B1 Singapore-sponsored energy roles in Illinois without sorting through employers who don't sponsor that visa. Because H-1B visa1 Singapore is a smaller filing category than H-1B, using a platform that surfaces verified LCA and sponsorship history by visa type, like Migrate Mate, is more efficient than broad job searches that don't distinguish between sponsorship categories.
Are there Illinois-specific or energy industry considerations for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Illinois's status as a major deregulated electricity market means energy employers frequently hire across utility, generation, and trading functions, broadening the range of specialty roles available. The state's Climate and Equitable Jobs Act has also accelerated hiring in clean energy development and grid modernization, areas where engineering and analytical roles with H-1B1 Singapore eligibility are growing. Employers must file a certified LCA with DOL and attest to prevailing wage compliance before sponsoring any H-1B1 worker, regardless of role or location within the state.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Singapore energy jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
