Which companies sponsor visas for production operators in Indiana?
Indiana's largest manufacturers have documented histories of sponsoring work visas for production and operations roles. Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette, Cummins in Columbus, Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, and Steel Technologies in Gary have all appeared in Department of Labor LCA filings for production-related positions. Sponsorship activity tends to be concentrated at facilities where specialized technical skills or engineering-adjacent production experience is required.
Which visa types are most common for production operator roles in Indiana?
H-1B visas are the most common sponsorship path for production operators whose roles require a relevant bachelor's degree, such as positions involving process engineering or quality systems. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations. For roles that don't require a degree, EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process is sometimes used by Indiana manufacturers for experienced production staff.
Which cities in Indiana have the most production operator sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis leads Indiana for production operator sponsorship activity, driven by its pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing base. Columbus is significant due to Cummins' global headquarters and engine manufacturing operations. Fort Wayne supports automotive and defense manufacturing employers. Lafayette and its surrounding area, anchored by Subaru's assembly plant, also generates consistent production hiring. Terre Haute and Greenfield have growing pharmaceutical manufacturing presences worth monitoring.
How to find production operator visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for employers willing to sponsor work visas, so you can search production operator roles in Indiana without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because Indiana's manufacturing sector spans automotive, pharmaceutical, and industrial equipment, Migrate Mate lets you narrow by industry and location to identify active openings at facilities in Indianapolis, Columbus, Lafayette, and Fort Wayne where sponsorship has historically occurred.
Are there state-specific considerations for production operator visa sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana's manufacturing economy means prevailing wage determinations for production operator roles are set against DOL wage data for specific Standard Occupational Classification codes, which employers must meet when filing an LCA or PERM application. Indiana has no state-level visa program, so sponsorship depends entirely on individual employers. Large facilities tied to automotive and pharmaceutical supply chains tend to have dedicated HR infrastructure to manage visa petitions, making them more sponsorship-capable than smaller contract manufacturers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored production operator jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
