Which companies sponsor visas for operations supervisors in Iowa?
Tyson Foods and Iowa Premium (beef processing) in Waterloo and Denison, John Deere in Waterloo and Ankeny, Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, and Principal Financial Group in Des Moines have all appeared in federal LCA disclosure data as Iowa-based H-1B visa sponsors. Food manufacturing and agricultural equipment companies account for a significant share of operations supervisor sponsorship activity in the state.
Which visa types are most common for operations supervisor roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for operations supervisors in Iowa, provided the role meets the specialty occupation standard, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, supply chain management, or operations management. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management categories. L-1A transfers apply when a candidate is moving from an overseas office of the same employer into a supervisory position.
How to find operations supervisor visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search operations supervisor roles in Iowa without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces employers in food processing, logistics, and manufacturing sectors where Iowa sponsorship activity is most concentrated. Filtering by Iowa cities like Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, or Waterloo will narrow results to the most active hiring markets.
Which cities in Iowa have the most operations supervisor sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines is Iowa's largest metro and hosts the broadest range of industries, including financial services, insurance, and distribution, making it the most active city for sponsored operations roles. Cedar Rapids follows closely, with strong food manufacturing and logistics activity. Waterloo is notable for agricultural equipment manufacturing through John Deere and meatpacking through Tyson Foods, both of which have sponsored supervisory positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for operations supervisor sponsorship in Iowa?
Iowa's operations supervisor market is heavily tied to food and agricultural manufacturing, which means prevailing wage determinations often reflect industrial production environments rather than tech sector norms. Employers sponsoring through the H-1B must file a Labor Condition Application certifying they will pay the prevailing wage for the specific Iowa county and occupation code. University of Iowa and Iowa State University graduates with industrial or systems engineering backgrounds represent a notable pipeline into sponsored operations roles in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored operations supervisor jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
