Which companies sponsor visas for construction project engineers in Kansas?
Burns & McDonnell, headquartered in the Kansas City metro area, is among the most active engineering employers with a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. Terracon Consultants, Black & Veatch, and McCarthy Building Companies also operate significantly in Kansas and have filed LCAs for construction and engineering roles. Large infrastructure and industrial contractors tend to sponsor more consistently than smaller regional firms.
Which visa types are most common for construction project engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction project engineers in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no annual lottery. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican engineers with qualifying credentials under USMCA.
Which cities in Kansas have the most construction project engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro area, including Overland Park and Lenexa on the Kansas side, concentrates the most engineering employer offices and sponsorship activity. Wichita supports construction demand tied to aviation, industrial, and commercial development. Topeka sees activity driven by state infrastructure and government-adjacent construction projects. Most visa-sponsored roles are concentrated in the northeast corridor of the state.
How to find construction project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters construction project engineer jobs in Kansas specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sorting through listings that don't apply to international candidates. The platform surfaces roles from employers who have previously sponsored engineers in the state, including firms active in the Kansas City metro and Wichita markets. Filtering by role and location on Migrate Mate gives you a focused starting point.
Are there any state-specific considerations for construction project engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas employers sponsoring H-1B construction project engineers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which vary by county and metropolitan area. The Kansas City metro area typically carries higher prevailing wage determinations than rural counties. Candidates with degrees from Kansas State University or the University of Kansas sometimes have an easier path to in-state employer connections, as local firms actively recruit from these engineering programs.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction project engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
