Which companies sponsor visas for customer engineers in Kansas?
Kansas-based employers with a track record of sponsoring technical roles include Garmin in Olathe, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in Kansas City, and T-Mobile's regional operations. Mid-sized enterprise software and industrial technology firms in the Kansas City metro also sponsor customer engineers, particularly for roles requiring pre-sales or implementation expertise tied to specific product knowledge.
Which visa types are most common for customer engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for customer engineers in Kansas, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and meet the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under NAFTA-successor rules. Australian citizens should explore the E-3 visa as a faster alternative to the H-1B visa.
Which cities in Kansas have the most customer engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro, spanning both Kansas and Missouri, is by far the strongest market for customer engineer sponsorship in the state. Olathe stands out specifically due to Garmin's headquarters. Wichita has a smaller but active market driven by aerospace and industrial technology firms, where customer engineers support complex technical deployments for manufacturing clients.
How to find customer engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify customer engineer roles in Kansas where employers are actively open to sponsoring. Rather than sorting through general job boards, you can narrow results to Kansas, apply the customer engineer role filter, and focus your applications on employers who have already indicated willingness to sponsor international candidates.
Are there any state-specific considerations for customer engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not have state-level immigration rules that affect sponsorship, but employers filing H-1B petitions must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Kansas City or Wichita metro areas, which are distinct from national benchmarks. University of Kansas and Kansas State University produce engineering graduates who sometimes transition into customer engineer roles, creating local pipelines that some employers prefer to sponsor through OPT before H-1B.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored customer engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
