Which distribution and wholesale companies sponsor H-2B visas in Kansas?
Food and beverage distributors, agricultural wholesale suppliers, and third-party logistics providers in Kansas have historically filed H-2B petitions to meet seasonal labor needs. Companies operating large distribution centers in the Wichita and Kansas City metro areas, including food service distributors and cold-chain operators, are among the most active filers. DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data, searchable through the OFLC Wage Search tool, shows which Kansas employers have filed petitions by occupation and location.
Which cities in Kansas have the most distribution and wholesale H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Wichita and the Kansas City metro area (including Kansas-side communities like Lenexa, Olathe, and Shawnee) account for the largest concentration of distribution and wholesale H-2B activity in the state. Salina serves as a regional hub for agricultural and food wholesale operations, and Hutchinson has notable grain and commodity distribution presence. Proximity to Interstate 70 and I-135 corridors drives employer clustering in these locations.
What types of distribution and wholesale roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B sponsorship in distribution and wholesale typically covers temporary, non-agricultural positions such as warehouse associates, order selectors, forklift operators, loading dock workers, and cold storage handlers. These roles must be tied to a genuine seasonal or peak-period need the employer can document. Positions requiring specialized credentials or that are permanent in nature are less likely to qualify. O*NET occupation profiles can help identify job zone classifications relevant to these roles.
How do I find distribution and wholesale H-2B sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate lets you filter jobs specifically by visa type and industry, making it straightforward to surface distribution and wholesale H-2B sponsorship opportunities in Kansas. Because H-2B positions are tied to approved DOL petitions with defined start dates, searching early in the hiring cycle matters. Migrate Mate surfaces verified employer filing history so you can identify Kansas-based distribution and wholesale companies that have sponsored H-2B workers in prior seasons.
Are there any Kansas-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-2B sponsorship in distribution and wholesale?
Kansas distribution employers filing H-2B petitions must demonstrate that their need is temporary and tied to a seasonal, peak-load, or intermittent business cycle. The state's strong agricultural economy means many wholesale and distribution operations experience genuine seasonal surges during harvest and planting periods. Employers must also conduct domestic recruitment before USCIS approves the petition, and the H-2B annual cap applies nationally, so petition timing relative to the cap year is a practical factor workers and employers both monitor.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B distribution & wholesale jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
