Which aerospace and defense companies in Kentucky sponsor work visas?
Major sponsors include GE Appliances in Louisville for engineering roles, BAE Systems for defense technology positions, and Ford Motor Company's Louisville Assembly Plant for manufacturing engineering. Boeing suppliers like Spirit AeroSystems and Triumph Group also sponsor international professionals for specialized manufacturing and quality assurance roles throughout the Louisville metropolitan area.
How to find aerospace & defense visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for aerospace and defense positions in Kentucky that offer visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs by industry and sponsorship availability, showing current openings at Louisville-area defense contractors, aircraft component manufacturers, and automotive aerospace suppliers. Focus your search on Louisville and Lexington metro areas where most sponsoring employers operate.
What visa types are most common for aerospace and defense jobs in Kentucky?
H-1B visas dominate for aerospace engineers, systems analysts, and defense technology specialists in Kentucky. O-1 visas are used for researchers with specialized expertise in defense applications or advanced manufacturing. L-1 visas are common at international defense contractors with Kentucky operations, while TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican aerospace professionals.
Which Kentucky cities have the most aerospace and defense visa sponsorship opportunities?
Louisville leads with the highest concentration, home to GE Appliances, Ford's aerospace-related automotive manufacturing, and numerous defense contractors. Lexington follows with University of Kentucky research partnerships and smaller defense firms. Bowling Green and Henderson also offer opportunities through automotive suppliers with aerospace components divisions serving Boeing and Airbus.
Are there specific requirements for aerospace and defense visa sponsorship in Kentucky?
Many positions require security clearance eligibility, which typically means permanent residents or citizens, limiting visa sponsorship options. However, non-clearance roles in commercial aerospace, manufacturing engineering, and supplier quality management actively sponsor international professionals. University of Kentucky's aerospace engineering program creates pathways from F-1 to sponsored employment for recent graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored aerospace & defense jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
