Which aerospace & defense companies sponsor visas in Utah?
Major sponsors include Northrop Grumman (with significant operations in Magna and Promontory), L3Harris Technologies, Raytheon, Boeing contractors, and numerous Hill Air Force Base prime contractors. Space technology companies like Orbital ATK (now Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems) and emerging commercial space firms also actively sponsor H-1B and other work visas for engineering and technical roles.
How to find aerospace & defense visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international professionals with Utah aerospace and defense employers who sponsor work visas. The platform filters opportunities by location and industry, highlighting companies with proven sponsorship track records. Focus on the Salt Lake City metro area and Davis County, where most major aerospace facilities are located.
Which visa types are most common for aerospace & defense roles in Utah?
H-1B visas dominate for engineering positions (aerospace, software, systems engineers), while L-1 visas are common for international transfers within major defense contractors. O-1 visas occasionally apply for specialized roles in space technology or advanced weapons systems. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican engineers, and E-3 visas benefit Australian professionals in qualifying specialty occupations.
Which Utah cities have the most aerospace & defense sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City leads with the highest concentration, followed by West Valley City, Magna, and Clearfield near Hill Air Force Base. Davis County communities like Layton and Syracuse offer opportunities with base contractors. The Wasatch Front corridor from Ogden to Provo contains most aerospace employers, with emerging space companies in Salt Lake City's growing tech sector.
What are the prevailing wage considerations for aerospace jobs in Utah?
Utah's aerospace sector typically offers competitive wages that easily meet H-1B prevailing wage requirements, especially for engineering roles. The state's lower cost of living compared to California aerospace hubs can make Utah positions attractive. Defense contractors often have established wage scales that align with federal contracting requirements, simplifying the Labor Condition Application process for employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored aerospace & defense jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
