- Support the development of hardware, software, and interface specifications with internal customers and cross-functional teams
- Test and validate system designs to ensure operational and functional requirements are met
- Troubleshoot fielded hardware and software issues across the product lifecycle
- Contribute to airplane installation design and certification efforts for Network and Digital Connectivity systems and airplane programs
- Work with organizations across Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Global Services, and Test & Evaluation to support end-to-end system verification
- Engage with airline customers to understand intended use cases for network and connectivity solutions
- Develop operational use cases and define how systems will be evaluated against them
- Write detailed integrated test procedures and plans, and execute those plans in lab and airplane environments
- Define and configure laboratory test setups
- Participate in flight test evaluation of Connectivity and Network systems
- Create software scripts to support and/or automate test procedures and analysis
- Evaluate the performance, reliability, and stability of connectivity Internet Protocol (IP) links, wired and wireless

Which aerospace & defense companies sponsor visas in Washington?
Boeing leads visa sponsorship in Washington, particularly for software engineers, aerospace engineers, and manufacturing specialists at their Everett and Renton facilities. Defense contractors like Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin regularly sponsor H-1B visa and other work visas for engineers and cybersecurity professionals. Space companies including Blue Origin in Kent and emerging firms around Seattle also provide sponsorship opportunities for specialized technical roles.
Which visa types are most common for aerospace & defense roles in Washington?
H-1B visas dominate aerospace sponsorship in Washington, covering software engineers, systems engineers, and aerospace engineers. E-3 visas work well for Australian engineers at Boeing and defense contractors. L-1 visas are common for international transfers, particularly at multinational defense firms. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican engineers, while O-1 visas occasionally apply to specialized aviation or space technology experts with significant achievements.
How to find aerospace & defense visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for aerospace and defense positions in Washington that offer visa sponsorship. Filter by cities like Seattle, Everett, and Bellevue where major employers concentrate. Focus on Boeing's regular hiring cycles, defense contractor openings in the Puget Sound area, and emerging space companies in Kent and Redmond. Many positions require security clearance eligibility, so target roles that specify availability to non-citizens.
Which cities in Washington have the most aerospace & defense sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Everett lead aerospace sponsorship opportunities, with Boeing's major manufacturing and engineering facilities. Bellevue and Redmond host defense contractors and aerospace suppliers with frequent visa sponsorship needs. Kent houses Blue Origin's headquarters and manufacturing, while Mukilteo and Renton offer additional Boeing operations. The broader Puget Sound region concentrates most aerospace opportunities due to established supply chains and engineering talent pools.
Do aerospace & defense jobs in Washington require security clearance for visa holders?
Many defense positions require U.S. citizenship for security clearance, limiting options for visa holders. However, commercial aerospace roles at Boeing and space companies often don't require clearance. Some defense contractors offer cleared and non-cleared tracks, with international engineers working on commercial aviation projects or non-sensitive defense technologies. Focus on positions explicitly open to foreign nationals or those specifying no clearance requirements in job descriptions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored aerospace & defense jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
