Which companies sponsor visas for project controls managers in Maryland?
Federal contractors and engineering firms are the most active sponsors in Maryland. Companies like Jacobs, AECOM, Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Parsons regularly hire project controls managers and have sponsored H-1B visas for this role. Defense and infrastructure contractors in the Baltimore-Washington corridor tend to have the most consistent sponsorship activity, given their scale and reliance on specialized program management talent.
Which visa types are most common for project controls manager roles in Maryland?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project controls managers in Maryland. The role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also be eligible for TN status under the engineer category. L-1 transfers are less common but do occur within large multinational contractors operating in Maryland.
Which cities in Maryland have the most project controls manager sponsorship jobs?
The highest concentration of project controls manager roles is in the Baltimore-Washington corridor, particularly Bethesda, Rockville, Columbia, and Annapolis Junction. This reflects the density of federal agencies and prime contractors in the region. Baltimore also has active hiring through infrastructure and construction management firms. Remote-eligible roles posted to Maryland addresses are increasingly common among larger defense contractors.
How to find project controls manager visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find project controls manager roles in Maryland without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by role and state to surface active openings from federal contractors, engineering firms, and infrastructure companies that have a history of sponsoring international candidates for this position.
Are there any Maryland-specific considerations for project controls managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Maryland's high concentration of federal contractors means many project controls manager roles involve work on government contracts, which can require security clearances. Sponsorship for clearance-required positions is less common, since clearances are generally restricted to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. Candidates on work visas will typically need to target commercial or non-classified contract work, which is still abundant in the state's engineering and infrastructure sectors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project controls manager jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
