Which companies sponsor visas for project controls managers in New York?
Large engineering and construction firms with established immigration programs are the most consistent sponsors. Companies including AECOM, Jacobs Engineering, Turner Construction, Skanska, and WSP Global have sponsored H-1B workers in project controls and related roles in New York. Major utilities and transit agencies working on capital programs also engage contractors who handle sponsorship on project-specific hires.
Which visa types are most common for project controls manager roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project controls managers in New York, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, qualifying it as a specialty occupation. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3, and those from Canada or Mexico may qualify under the TN visa category under the engineer classification, depending on specific duties.
Which cities in New York have the most project controls manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the largest share of project controls manager positions, driven by large-scale commercial construction, MTA capital programs, and major infrastructure investment. Albany sees demand tied to state agency projects and utilities. Buffalo has grown as a hub following significant manufacturing and renewable energy investment in western New York, including semiconductor and clean energy construction projects.
How to find project controls manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse project controls manager openings in New York without sorting through roles that won't consider international candidates. You can filter by state and role to surface positions from employers who have demonstrated a willingness to sponsor, which is particularly useful given that sponsorship intent isn't always stated in standard job postings.
Are there any state-specific considerations for project controls managers seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under DOL regulations apply to H-1B petitions, and employers must certify wages meet or exceed the prevailing rate for project controls roles in the specific metropolitan area. New York City wages are benchmarked separately from upstate markets. Candidates should also note that many large New York infrastructure projects are publicly funded, which can affect contracting structures and how sponsorship is handled by prime versus subcontractors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project controls manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
