Which companies sponsor visas for project controls managers in Massachusetts?
Large engineering, construction, and defense contractors are the most active sponsors for project controls managers in Massachusetts. Companies including Bechtel, Jacobs Engineering, AECOM, Raytheon Technologies, and Turner Construction have a documented history of H-1B filings for project controls and cost engineering roles. Life sciences firms such as Moderna and Bristol Myers Squibb, which run major capital project programs in the state, also sponsor this role category.
Which visa types are most common for project controls manager roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project controls managers in Massachusetts, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify under the TN visa. Those with an approved I-140 and a current priority date may also work under H-1B portability while pursuing permanent residence.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most project controls manager sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge are the primary hubs, driven by large-scale infrastructure, biotech campus construction, and hospital expansion projects. Waltham and Woburn, home to a dense cluster of life sciences and defense firms, also generate consistent demand. Worcester is an emerging market as healthcare and higher education capital programs expand there. Most sponsoring employers in Massachusetts are concentrated within the Greater Boston metropolitan area.
How to find project controls manager visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for project controls manager roles in Massachusetts without manually screening each posting. You can filter by state and role to surface positions where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Given that sponsorship for this role is concentrated among larger contractors and life sciences companies in the Boston area, Migrate Mate's focused board saves significant time compared to general job searches.
Are there state-specific considerations for project controls managers seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a high cost of living relative to national averages, which influences the prevailing wage calculations that employers must meet when filing H-1B petitions for project controls manager roles. The state's concentration of large-scale biotech and hospital construction projects means many sponsoring employers are experienced with the H-1B process. Candidates from engineering programs at MIT, Northeastern, or UMass Amherst are sometimes already familiar to regional contractors, creating a practical pipeline into sponsorship-eligible roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project controls manager jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
