Which companies sponsor visas for artificial intelligence scientists in Massachusetts?
Large technology and research employers in Massachusetts with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for AI roles include Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle, all of which maintain offices in the Boston and Cambridge areas. Universities such as MIT, Harvard, and Northeastern also sponsor researchers and scientists. Biotech firms like Moderna and Biogen increasingly hire AI scientists and have sponsored visas for these roles.
Which visa types are most common for artificial intelligence scientist roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for artificial intelligence scientist positions in Massachusetts, as the role typically meets the specialty occupation requirement given its degree-level technical demands. The O-1A is an alternative for scientists with demonstrated exceptional ability, such as published research or conference recognition. Some university-affiliated researchers enter on J-1 exchange visitor status, though that pathway is specific to academic or research institution settings.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most artificial intelligence scientist sponsorship jobs?
Cambridge and Boston account for the large majority of AI scientist sponsorship activity in the state. Cambridge is home to MIT, Harvard, and a high concentration of AI startups and research labs. Boston hosts major tech and biotech employers across the Seaport and Back Bay districts. Waltham and Lexington also have notable AI employer presence, particularly in defense research and enterprise software sectors.
How to find artificial intelligence scientist visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters artificial intelligence scientist roles in Massachusetts by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you from sorting through listings where sponsorship is unavailable. Because AI scientist roles in Massachusetts span research institutions, tech companies, and biotech firms, using a sponsorship-focused platform like Migrate Mate helps you target employers already set up to file H-1B or O-1 petitions for this role type.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for AI scientists in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts does not have state-level visa programs, but several factors shape the local market. The state's high concentration of research universities creates a strong pipeline of OPT and CPT candidates, meaning many employers already have established processes for sponsoring international AI scientists. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B filings, and AI scientist roles in the Boston metro typically fall in higher wage level categories given the technical depth expected of the position.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored artificial intelligence scientist jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
