Which companies sponsor visas for construction project engineers in Massachusetts?
Suffolk Construction, Turner Construction, Gilbane Building Company, Skanska USA, and Walsh Group have all filed Labor Condition Applications for construction project engineer roles in Massachusetts. Larger general contractors and construction management firms are more likely to sponsor because they have established HR infrastructure and legal teams to manage the H-1B visa petition process. Smaller specialty subcontractors rarely sponsor.
Which visa types are most common for construction project engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction project engineers in Massachusetts. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for the TN visa under the engineer category, which does not require a lottery and can be obtained at the border or port of entry.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most construction project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston accounts for the largest share of construction project engineer openings in Massachusetts, driven by ongoing commercial development, hospital expansions, and the MBTA Capital Investment Program. Cambridge sees demand tied to MIT and Harvard campus projects. Worcester is growing as a secondary market, with transit-oriented development and medical center construction contributing to hiring activity in the region.
How to find construction project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search construction project engineer roles in Massachusetts without sorting through employers who do not sponsor. The platform surfaces openings from general contractors, construction management firms, and public infrastructure organizations active in the state, making it easier to identify which employers are actively hiring internationally for this role.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for construction project engineers in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts prevailing wage requirements under state law apply to public construction projects, which means employers must pay state-determined wage rates in addition to meeting the federal LCA prevailing wage standard. Projects tied to MassDOT, the MBTA, or public universities fall under this requirement. Engineers with LEED credentials or experience on healthcare and life sciences construction projects tend to be more competitive with Massachusetts sponsors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction project engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
