Nearly a century later, we’re a privately held, family-led global compounder with sites across the U.S., Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China. Which companies sponsor visas for maintenance mechanics in Massachusetts?
Large manufacturers and facilities operators are the most active sponsors in Massachusetts. General Electric and Raytheon Technologies have histories of sponsoring skilled trades through H-2B visa and H-1B visa pathways depending on role classification. Major hospital systems like Mass General Brigham and university facilities departments at MIT and Harvard also hire maintenance mechanics and have sponsored international workers for ongoing operational roles.
Which visa types are most common for maintenance mechanic roles in Massachusetts?
Maintenance mechanic roles in Massachusetts are most commonly sponsored through the H-2B temporary nonimmigrant visa, which covers non-agricultural seasonal or peak-load positions, or the H-1B visa when the role meets specialty occupation criteria. Some highly specialized mechanics, particularly in industrial or aerospace settings, may qualify for H-1B classification if the position requires a specific engineering or technical degree. EB-3 green card sponsorship is also used by employers seeking permanent hires.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most maintenance mechanic sponsorship jobs?
Worcester leads outside Greater Boston due to its dense concentration of manufacturing facilities and healthcare campuses. Springfield and the Pioneer Valley corridor have active industrial employers, particularly in plastics and precision manufacturing. Boston and Cambridge sponsorship tends to come from university and hospital facilities departments rather than factories. Lowell and Lawrence, with their historic mill-era industrial infrastructure now repurposed for modern manufacturing, also generate consistent demand.
How to find maintenance mechanic visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find maintenance mechanic jobs in Massachusetts that include visa sponsorship. The platform filters specifically for roles where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness, saving time compared to sifting through general job postings. For Massachusetts mechanics, filtering by Worcester, Springfield, or Greater Boston will surface the highest concentration of industrial and facilities-based openings from employers with sponsorship track records.
Are there state-specific considerations for maintenance mechanics pursuing sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts sets prevailing wage requirements that employers must meet when sponsoring workers, calculated by region and occupation code, so compensation varies between Boston metro and rural western Massachusetts. The state's strong aerospace and defense sector, anchored by companies like Raytheon and BAE Systems in the 495 corridor, creates specialized demand for mechanics with security-clearable backgrounds, which can complicate international hiring timelines. Massachusetts also has a high union density in facilities and manufacturing trades, which affects how sponsorship roles are structured.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored maintenance mechanic jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
