Which companies sponsor visas for psychologists in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts General Hospital, McLean Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, UMass Memorial Health, and Brigham and Women's Hospital have documented H-1B sponsorship histories for psychology-related roles. University systems including Harvard, Boston University, and UMass Amherst also sponsor psychologists in research and clinical training positions. Sponsorship availability varies by role type, funding source, and departmental budget at the time of hiring.
Which visa types are most common for psychologist roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for licensed clinical and research psychologists in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a doctoral degree. J-1 visas are frequently used for postdoctoral research fellows at academic medical centers. Candidates with an O-1 visa may qualify if they have documented recognition in the field, such as publications, awards, or invited presentations.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most psychologist sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of psychologist sponsorship activity in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of academic medical centers and research institutions. Worcester is a secondary hub, anchored by UMass Memorial and the UMass Chan Medical School. Springfield and Lowell have smaller but active clinical markets, particularly in community mental health and Veterans Affairs settings.
How to find psychologist visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters psychologist job listings in Massachusetts specifically to employers with visa sponsorship histories, saving you the time of screening roles manually. You can browse open positions across clinical, research, and neuropsychological settings in Boston, Worcester, and other Massachusetts markets. Migrate Mate is built for international candidates, so every listing is evaluated for sponsorship relevance rather than general job availability.
Are there any state-specific considerations for psychologists seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts requires licensure through the Board of Registration of Psychologists, and most clinical positions require a doctoral degree plus supervised postdoctoral hours before licensure is granted. International candidates should confirm their credential evaluation is completed by an accepted body before applying. Academic medical centers in Massachusetts often tie H-1B sponsorship to specific grant funding, which can affect the timing and continuity of the sponsorship offer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored psychologist jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
