Which companies sponsor visas for data contributors in Minnesota?
The most active visa sponsors for data contributor roles in Minnesota include UnitedHealth Group, Target, 3M, Mayo Clinic, and Optum, which is headquartered in Eden Prairie. These organizations run large-scale data operations and have established immigration support processes. Financial institutions like U.S. Bancorp and Ameriprise Financial also sponsor data roles in the Minneapolis metro with some regularity.
Which visa types are most common for data contributor roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for data contributor positions in Minnesota, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a field like data science, computer science, or statistics, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the USMCA. Australian citizens can explore the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B lottery.
How to find data contributor visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for data contributor roles in Minnesota without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because the Twin Cities market spans healthcare, retail, and financial services, filtering by industry on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to employers with active sponsorship programs rather than reviewing unfiltered postings.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most data contributor sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and St. Paul together account for the large majority of data contributor sponsorship activity in Minnesota. Specific suburbs worth noting include Eden Prairie, home to Optum, and Minnetonka, where several healthcare technology firms operate. Rochester has a smaller but active data hiring market driven by Mayo Clinic's research and analytics divisions. Remote-optional roles posted by Twin Cities employers sometimes list Minnesota broadly.
Are there state-specific considerations for data contributor roles in Minnesota?
Minnesota's concentration in healthcare IT and retail analytics means many data contributor positions involve handling regulated data, which can influence job requirements and the specificity of degree fields employers list on Labor Condition Applications. The University of Minnesota and University of St. Thomas produce graduates who enter local data pipelines, so employers in the Twin Cities are generally familiar with sponsoring international candidates coming out of those programs.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data contributor jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
