Which companies sponsor visas for principal software engineers in Missouri?
World Wide Technology and Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in St. Louis are among Missouri's most active H-1B sponsors for senior engineering roles. Edward Jones, Mastercard's St. Louis operations, and Garmin's Kansas City-area offices have also filed LCAs for principal-level software engineer positions. Larger enterprise tech employers and financial services firms at this seniority level tend to have established immigration support processes.
Which visa types are most common for principal software engineer roles in Missouri?
The H-1B is the most common visa for principal software engineers in Missouri, given the role's clear specialty occupation classification requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates with extraordinary ability or achievement may pursue an O-1A. Those transferring within a multinational employer can use the L-1A or L-1B. The EB-2 and EB-3 green card categories are also common longer-term pathways for engineers at this level.
How to find principal software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find principal software engineer roles in Missouri without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. You can narrow results by state and seniority level to surface employers actively hiring for this role. Given the seniority involved, St. Louis and Kansas City are the most productive areas to focus your search on Migrate Mate.
Which cities in Missouri have the most principal software engineer sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis accounts for the majority of principal software engineer sponsorship activity in Missouri, driven by its concentration of enterprise technology, financial services, and healthcare IT employers. Kansas City is the second-largest market, with strength in fintech, logistics technology, and telecommunications. Columbia has a smaller but growing presence tied to the University of Missouri's research commercialization and regional tech firms.
Are there any Missouri-specific considerations for principal software engineer visa sponsorship?
Principal software engineer roles in Missouri typically fall under DOL wage Level III or IV for H-1B Labor Condition Applications, reflecting the seniority and specialized expertise required. Missouri's lower cost of living compared to coastal markets means prevailing wage determinations can differ from national benchmarks. St. Louis also has a notable university pipeline through Washington University and Saint Louis University, which some employers draw from when building senior engineering teams.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored principal software engineer jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
