Key duties include installing circuits, control systems, and lighting, performing preventative maintenance, repairing faults, and potentially training apprentices, all while adhering to strict safety and code standards for commercial or industrial settings.
Responsibilities
- Installation: Laying out and installing electrical power, lighting, and control systems in new and existing structures.
- Maintenance: Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical components like transformers and circuit breakers.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing problems using testing equipment (voltmeters, ohmmeters) and repairing or replacing defective wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
- Code Compliance: Ensuring all work strictly follows state and local building regulations and the NEC.
Qualifications
- Valid licensed electrician with a minimum of 5 years’ experience (e.g., Journeyman, Master)
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, systems, applications and principles
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical schematics
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to use all types of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of electrical systems, pumps, motors and transformers
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes and regulations
