About Redwood Materials
Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we're delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.
Construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager
Redwood Materials is seeking a Construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager to join our internal Engineering, Procurement, & Construction (EPC) team, which designs and builds battery recycling and battery materials manufacturing facilities. The QA/QC Manager will be embedded on the Engineering team and serve as the owner's quality representative, ensuring that all construction—whether self-performed or executed by subcontractors—meets the intent of design drawings, project specifications, and applicable codes. This role spans the full project lifecycle, from design through construction completion and turnover, and is expected to engage proactively during design to identify quality requirements, constructability concerns, and inspection hold points before construction begins. The QA/QC Manager will also contract and coordinate third-party special inspections where required by code or contract. This role works closely with project management, infrastructure engineering, project controls, and procurement, and interfaces directly with construction managers, site superintendents, construction engineers, and subcontractors.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead and develop the project QA/QC function, including direct oversight of internal inspectors, QC coordinators, and third-party inspection personnel; set priorities, review performance, and provide day-to-day technical direction
- Review engineering drawings and specifications during the design phase to identify constructability concerns, inspection hold points, and quality requirements before construction begins; provide proactive QA/QC feedback to design engineers
- Develop project-specific Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and coordinate scheduling of third-party special inspections (e.g., structural steel, welding, concrete, fireproofing) to ensure inspection resources are in place ahead of construction activities
- Contract and manage relationships with third-party special inspection agencies; ensure their scopes, qualifications, and schedules align with project needs
- Perform daily site walks to identify risks, discrepancies, and non-conformances; document findings, evaluations, and inspections using company-prescribed procedures and software
- Perform system verifications on completed systems to confirm correct installation per design specifications and contract documents; assist with development and maintenance of quality protocols, qualification requirements, and validation procedures and documentation
- Audit contractor and self-perform quality turnover documentation, including MTRs, weld maps, weld logs, PWHT reports, NDT reports, concrete placement records, bolt tensioning records, and other civil/structural QC documentation
- Track and report on quality metrics, non-conformance trends, and inspection status to project leadership; support resolution of day-to-day quality issues in the field
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical discipline; an Associate's degree or technical diploma with significant additional field experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in construction quality control/assurance, inspection, or a closely related field, including prior experience leading or supervising QA/QC personnel
- Current CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification, or ability to obtain CWI within 12 months of hire
- Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 (Process Piping) and AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding Code – Steel)
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, mechanical, and piping engineering drawings and specifications; experience developing or executing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Valid driver's license; strong organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability, including experience directing inspectors, subcontractor QC staff, or third-party inspection agencies; strong sense of ownership
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of related experience in industrial or heavy commercial construction QA/QC
- Level II NDT certifications (MT, PT, UT–straight beam), or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud and CXAlloy or similar construction management/QC documentation platforms
- Experience or training in construction industry code compliance (IBC, OSHA, NFPA, etc.)
- Proven ability to build and scale QA/QC programs across multiple concurrent projects; strong technical writing and documentation skills; a passion for sustainability and making the world a better place
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Which companies in Nevada sponsor visas for quality control managers?
Nevada employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories in quality and manufacturing roles include Barrick Gold Corporation in Elko, Tesla and its supply chain partners near Reno, and various defense and aerospace contractors in the Las Vegas metro. Hospitality and gaming equipment manufacturers in Henderson and North Las Vegas also periodically sponsor quality control professionals, particularly for roles requiring specialized engineering or regulatory compliance backgrounds.
Which cities in Nevada have the most quality control manager sponsorship jobs?
Reno and Sparks lead Nevada for quality control manager sponsorship activity, driven by the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, which hosts large manufacturers including Tesla, Panasonic, and Switch. Las Vegas and Henderson follow, with opportunities in food and beverage production, gaming equipment manufacturing, and construction materials. Elko is a niche market for quality managers in mining and metallurgical operations.
Which visa types are most common for quality control manager roles in Nevada?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for quality control managers in Nevada, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify under the TN visa in relevant engineering categories. Candidates with extraordinary recognition in their field may explore the O-1A, though that standard is significantly higher.
How to find quality control manager visa sponsorship jobs in Nevada?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find quality control manager visa sponsorship jobs in Nevada. The platform filters specifically for roles where employers have demonstrated willingness to sponsor, saving significant research time. Focus your search on Reno, Henderson, and the Las Vegas metro, and prioritize manufacturers and mining operations, as those sectors account for the majority of sponsored quality control positions in the state.
Are there any Nevada-specific considerations for quality control managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Nevada's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation tracks prevailing wage data that employers must reference when filing Labor Condition Applications for H-1B candidates in quality control roles. Nevada has no state income tax, which affects total compensation structuring. The University of Nevada, Reno produces engineering graduates who sometimes transition into quality roles, but international candidates with manufacturing or mining sector experience tend to have a stronger employer pitch in this market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored quality control manager jobs in Nevada?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
