Which companies sponsor visas for backend software developers in New Hampshire?
Larger employers with established immigration programs include BAE Systems, Oracle (via its Dyn acquisition in Manchester), and Liberty Mutual's technology offices. Smaller software firms and defense contractors in the Nashua and Portsmouth areas also sponsor backend developers, though less frequently. Companies with dedicated HR or legal teams are generally better positioned to manage H-1B visa and other work visa petitions for technical hires.
Which visa types are most common for backend software developer roles in New Hampshire?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for backend software developers in New Hampshire, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates already on OPT or STEM OPT may begin working before an H-1B is filed. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals meeting the qualifying criteria.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most backend software developer sponsorship jobs?
Manchester is New Hampshire's largest city and its primary tech employment hub, with the most concentrated demand for backend developers. Nashua, near the Massachusetts border, hosts a number of technology and defense firms that hire software engineers. Portsmouth attracts smaller software companies and startups along the seacoast. All three cities are within reasonable commuting distance of Greater Boston, which broadens the regional hiring pool considerably.
How to find backend software developer visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates looking for visa-sponsored backend software developer roles. You can filter by state to surface New Hampshire employers who have a history of sponsoring work visas for technical positions. Because many New Hampshire companies also hire for the Greater Boston market, searching both regions on Migrate Mate can expand the number of relevant opportunities available to you.
Are there any state-specific considerations for backend software developers seeking visa sponsorship in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire has no state income tax, which can make compensation packages more attractive in real terms compared to neighboring states. The University of New Hampshire and Southern New Hampshire University produce local computer science graduates, but employer demand for backend engineers frequently exceeds that pipeline, making international candidates competitive. Prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions apply federally regardless of state and are determined by the Department of Labor based on the job location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored backend software developer jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
