Which companies sponsor visas for application engineers in New Jersey?
Large employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for application engineers in New Jersey include Johnson & Johnson, Cognizant, Siemens, Merck, and Verizon. Financial technology firms concentrated in Jersey City, such as Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, also sponsor application engineers regularly. DOL H-1B disclosure data is the most reliable way to verify which specific employers have sponsored this role recently.
Which visa types are most common for application engineer roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for application engineers in New Jersey, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role meets qualifying engineering classifications. Candidates already holding L-1 transfers from multinational employers are also common in this market.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most application engineer sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City leads for application engineer sponsorship activity due to its density of financial services and technology firms. Edison and Parsippany are strong hubs along the Route 1 and I-287 corridors, hosting numerous life sciences and IT consulting employers. Bridgewater and Princeton are notable for pharmaceutical and defense sector hiring, with Morristown adding telecom and enterprise software employers to the mix.
How to find application engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search application engineer roles in New Jersey without sorting through positions that won't support your visa. The platform surfaces employers who have sponsored this role before, which narrows your search to realistic opportunities. Filtering by location and role type on Migrate Mate gives you a shortlist of New Jersey employers worth targeting directly.
Are there any state-specific considerations for application engineers seeking sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey's high concentration of life sciences, defense, and financial technology employers means application engineer roles here often require industry-specific knowledge, which can strengthen a specialty occupation determination. The state's proximity to New York City also means some employers operate across both states, so your work location should match the address on your Labor Condition Application. Rutgers University and NJIT supply a strong local talent pipeline, so employer sponsorship decisions can be competitive.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored application engineer jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
