Which companies sponsor visas for software engineer AIs in New Jersey?
New Jersey has a well-established base of visa-sponsoring employers for AI engineering roles. Large technology and consulting firms such as Cognizant, Infosys, and Wipro have significant New Jersey operations and long histories of H-1B visa sponsorship. Pharmaceutical and life sciences companies including Johnson & Johnson, Merck, and Becton Dickinson also hire AI engineers and have sponsored work visas consistently. Financial services firms operating out of Jersey City and Newark round out the major sponsoring employer groups in the state.
Which visa types are most common for software engineer AI roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software engineer AI positions in New Jersey, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability in AI research may qualify for the O-1A. Those already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT, including the 24-month STEM extension, frequently fill AI engineering roles while pursuing long-term sponsorship.
How to find software engineer ai visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers and filters software engineer AI roles in New Jersey by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually screening hundreds of listings. Because AI engineering is a high-demand specialty in the state, new sponsored positions appear regularly across pharma, fintech, and technology sectors. Searching on Migrate Mate lets you focus your applications on employers who have actively sponsored visas for similar roles rather than cold-applying to companies with no sponsorship history.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most software engineer AI sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City and Newark attract the highest concentration of AI engineering sponsorship roles due to their proximity to New York City and strong financial technology and consulting presence. Princeton and the surrounding Route 1 corridor are particularly active given the density of pharmaceutical headquarters and research campuses. Parsippany and Bridgewater also see consistent hiring for AI roles tied to corporate technology centers and managed services firms operating in central New Jersey.
Are there state-specific factors that affect AI engineering sponsorship hiring in New Jersey?
New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and financial services employers creates consistent demand for AI engineers who can work on regulated data environments, which shapes how roles are scoped and what degree backgrounds employers prioritize. The state also benefits from proximity to universities like Rutgers and Princeton that produce graduate-level AI talent, meaning many employers have established pipelines for sponsoring candidates coming out of those programs on OPT before transitioning to H-1B status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineer ai jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
