Which companies sponsor visas for accounting specialists in New York?
The most consistent sponsors for accounting specialists in New York are large financial institutions and professional services firms. JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG all have documented H-1B sponsorship histories in accounting roles. Large healthcare systems like NYU Langone and Northwell Health also sponsor international accounting staff, particularly for roles in financial operations and compliance.
Which visa types are most common for accounting specialist roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accounting specialists in New York, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, which satisfies the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify under the TN visa in the accountant category. Australians with the right qualifications may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no annual lottery.
Which cities in New York have the most accounting specialist sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan concentrates the largest share of accounting specialist sponsorship activity, driven by the density of banks, asset managers, law firms, and Big Four offices. Albany generates steady demand through state government contractors and healthcare organizations. Buffalo has a growing professional services sector with employers that sponsor international accounting staff, and Long Island hosts several corporate headquarters with active accounting teams.
How to find accounting specialist visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters accounting specialist jobs in New York specifically by visa sponsorship, so you're only seeing roles where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. This saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering sponsorship limitations later. On Migrate Mate, you can sort by location and role type to focus on New York accounting positions at firms with a documented history of international hiring.
Are there state-specific considerations for accounting specialists seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York's Department of Labor prevailing wage data is used to set H-1B LCA wage floors, and the New York City metro area typically carries higher prevailing wage levels than upstate regions, which affects which employers can competitively sponsor. CPA licensure in New York requires 150 credit hours, so international candidates should verify their credentials are recognized by the New York State Education Department before beginning the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting specialist jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
