Which companies sponsor visas for AI/ML engineers in New York?
Large tech and financial firms account for the majority of AI/ML engineer H-1B sponsorships in New York. Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Two Sigma have all appeared consistently in DOL disclosure data for sponsored AI and ML roles. Academic medical centers like Memorial Sloan Kettering also sponsor engineers working on applied machine learning in healthcare settings.
Which visa types are most common for AI/ML engineer roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for AI/ML engineers in New York, as these roles typically require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Researchers and scientists may qualify for the O-1A based on extraordinary ability. Australian citizens working in the field may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery.
How to find ai ml engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find AI/ML engineer roles in New York where employers have an active history of sponsoring international candidates. Rather than sorting through unfiltered postings, you can search directly for New York-based AI and ML positions from companies that have previously filed H-1B petitions or sponsored other work visas.
Which cities in New York have the most AI/ML engineer sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly Manhattan, accounts for the overwhelming majority of sponsored AI/ML engineering roles in the state. The concentration of finance, media, and tech headquarters in Midtown and Lower Manhattan, combined with the Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island, creates dense demand. Brooklyn's tech corridor and Long Island City have also seen growth, though at significantly smaller scale than Manhattan.
Are there any state-specific considerations for AI/ML engineers seeking visa sponsorship in New York?
New York City employers must comply with the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles, and wages for AI/ML engineers in NYC are benchmarked against one of the highest prevailing wage tiers in the country due to the city's cost of living. New York's strong university pipeline, including Columbia, NYU, and Cornell Tech, also means employers in this market are accustomed to sponsoring graduates transitioning from F-1 OPT status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai ml engineer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
