Which companies sponsor visas for engineering project managers in New York?
Large engineering and construction firms such as AECOM, Jacobs Engineering, Turner Construction, and Skanska have consistent histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for engineering project managers in New York. Major utilities like Consolidated Edison and technology employers including IBM and Google also sponsor this role. Sponsorship activity is most concentrated among firms managing large infrastructure, semiconductor, or data center projects.
Which visa types are most common for engineering project managers in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for engineering project managers in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. Candidates with a Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA-successor agreement. Experienced professionals with an extraordinary record of achievement may be eligible for the O-1A, though this is less common for project management roles.
Which cities in New York have the most engineering project manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the largest share of engineering project manager sponsorship jobs in the state, driven by ongoing transit, real estate, and utility infrastructure projects. Buffalo has become an increasingly active market following major semiconductor investments, including the TSMC-adjacent supply chain buildout in the region. Albany and the Capital Region also see hiring activity tied to state government infrastructure programs and the growing chip fabrication corridor along Route 9.
How to find engineering project manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you can browse engineering project manager roles in New York without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform aggregates roles from employers with documented sponsorship histories, which is particularly useful given how varied sponsorship willingness is across New York's construction, utilities, and technology sectors. Filtering by location and role on Migrate Mate saves significant research time.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering project managers seeking visa sponsorship in New York?
New York's Department of Labor sets prevailing wage requirements that employers must meet when filing a Labor Condition Application for H-1B sponsored roles, and rates in New York City are among the highest in the country. Engineering project managers working on public infrastructure projects may also need to meet New York State licensure or registration requirements depending on the scope of work. The state's active semiconductor investment pipeline, supported by programs like the CHIPS Act, has expanded sponsoring employers beyond traditional construction firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering project manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
