Which companies sponsor visas for medical technologists in New York?
Large hospital systems and reference laboratories are the most active sponsors. NewYork-Presbyterian, Mount Sinai Health System, Northwell Health, NYC Health + Hospitals, and Montefiore Medical Center have consistent histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for laboratory science roles. National reference lab operators with major New York footprints, including Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp, also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for medical technologist positions.
Which visa types are most common for medical technologist roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for medical technologists in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or a related field. Some candidates with qualifying degrees and job offers may also pursue EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship for permanent residency. ASCP Board of Certification credentials strengthen an H-1B petition by documenting the specialized nature of the work.
How to find medical technologist visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship roles and lets you filter medical technologist positions by state, so you can browse New York openings from employers with verified sponsorship histories. Because not every job posting explicitly mentions visa sponsorship, using a platform like Migrate Mate that surfaces sponsoring employers from DOL disclosure data saves significant research time for candidates targeting New York clinical lab roles.
Which cities in New York have the most medical technologist sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the largest share of sponsorship activity, driven by the density of academic medical centers and large hospital networks in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Buffalo is a secondary hub anchored by Kaleida Health and Erie County Medical Center. Albany and Rochester also have active clinical lab hiring, with Albany Medical Center and Rochester Regional Health appearing in sponsorship records for laboratory science roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for medical technologists seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York requires clinical laboratory technologists to hold a state-issued Clinical Laboratory Technologist license from the New York State Department of Health, separate from ASCP certification. Employers initiating H-1B sponsorship must demonstrate the offered wage meets the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific region, which differs between New York City metropolitan areas and upstate locations. Candidates should confirm their foreign credentials are evaluated for New York licensure eligibility before or during the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical technologist jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
