Which companies sponsor visas for pathologists in New York?
Major academic medical centers are the most consistent sponsors, including NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, NYU Langone Health, Mount Sinai Health System, Montefiore Medical Center, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Large reference laboratory networks operating in New York, such as Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp, also have established sponsorship histories for pathologist roles, particularly for subspecialties in demand.
Which visa types are most common for pathologist roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for pathologists, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a medical degree and board certification. J-1 visas are also widely used for pathology residents and fellows completing training at New York teaching hospitals. Physicians with extraordinary ability may pursue O-1 visas, while those seeking permanent residence often pursue EB-2 or EB-1B immigrant visa categories.
Which cities in New York have the most pathologist sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the largest share of pathologist sponsorship positions, driven by its concentration of academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, and research institutions across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Buffalo and Rochester are secondary hubs, with strong hospital systems like SUNY Buffalo and the University of Rochester Medical Center actively hiring pathologists and supporting visa sponsorship for qualified candidates.
How to find pathologist visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters pathologist roles specifically by visa sponsorship status and state, making it straightforward to browse current openings in New York without sifting through positions that don't support work authorization. The platform aggregates roles from academic medical centers, hospital systems, and reference laboratories across the state, so you can focus your search on employers already open to sponsoring pathologists.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for pathologists seeking visa sponsorship?
New York requires pathologists to hold a valid New York State medical license, which international physicians must obtain before practicing, regardless of visa status. The state's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions are set at high levels given New York City's cost of living, which affects the labor condition application your employer files. Academic institutions affiliated with New York medical schools often have dedicated international physician recruitment and immigration support infrastructure.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pathologist jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
