Which companies sponsor visas for pathologists in Texas?
Large academic medical centers and hospital networks account for most pathologist visa sponsorship in Texas. UTHealth Houston, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Baylor Scott & White Health, Houston Methodist, and Texas Children's Hospital have all filed H-1B petitions for pathologists in recent years. Private pathology groups and independent laboratories also sponsor, though less frequently than major health systems.
Which visa types are most common for pathologist roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for pathologists in Texas, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a medical degree. J-1 visas are also common for pathology residents and fellows completing training at Texas academic programs. Some international pathologists pursue O-1A classification based on research distinctions, though this requires substantial documented recognition in the field.
Which cities in Texas have the most pathologist sponsorship jobs?
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth concentrate the largest share of pathologist sponsorship opportunities in Texas. Houston's Texas Medical Center, one of the largest medical complexes in the world, houses numerous institutions that hire and sponsor pathologists. Dallas benefits from major employers like UT Southwestern and Baylor Scott & White. San Antonio and Austin also have active markets, driven by their growing hospital systems.
How to find pathologist visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find pathologist visa sponsorship jobs in Texas. The platform filters specifically for roles where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor, so you're not sorting through listings that won't work for your situation. Focusing your search on large Texas health systems and academic medical centers through Migrate Mate will surface the employers most likely to support H-1B or J-1 sponsorship for pathologists.
Are there any state-specific considerations for pathologists seeking visa sponsorship in Texas?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons between Texas and other states. Pathologists must hold a Texas Medical Board license to practice, and international applicants should verify their medical credentials meet Texas licensure requirements before or alongside pursuing sponsorship. Academic medical centers affiliated with UT System schools often have established immigration support processes, making them more predictable sponsors for pathologists new to U.S. hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pathologist jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
