Which companies sponsor visas for construction managers in North Carolina?
Large general contractors with active North Carolina operations, including Turner Construction, Skanska, Brasfield and Gorrie, and Gilbane Building Company, have sponsored visas for construction manager roles. Major infrastructure and industrial project owners also sponsor through their EPC contractors. Sponsorship tends to be more common at firms running large-scale commercial, data center, or healthcare construction projects where specialized project management experience is harder to source domestically.
Which visa types are most common for construction manager roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction managers, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Candidates with degrees in architecture or structural engineering may also qualify. The O-1A is an option for managers with demonstrated extraordinary achievement, such as leadership on large-scale or award-winning projects. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering-related roles.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most construction manager sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte leads in volume, driven by ongoing commercial real estate, infrastructure, and mixed-use development. The Research Triangle, covering Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, follows closely due to data center construction and biotech facility projects. Greensboro and Winston-Salem also generate sponsored roles tied to manufacturing plant expansions and logistics facility builds across the Piedmont region.
How to find construction manager visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search construction manager roles in North Carolina without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform is designed for international candidates, making it straightforward to identify which employers are actively hiring and willing to support visa applications for construction management positions across the state.
Are there any state-specific considerations for construction managers seeking sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's construction growth is heavily tied to semiconductor, data center, and pharmaceutical manufacturing investment, which creates demand for construction managers with experience on complex technical builds. Employers filing H-1B petitions must pay prevailing wages set by the Department of Labor for the specific county where work is performed, so wages can differ between Charlotte and rural project sites. A degree in construction management or civil engineering strengthens H-1B specialty occupation eligibility significantly.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction manager jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
