Missouri's largest general contractors are among the most active sponsors. McCarthy Building Companies, headquartered in St. Louis, regularly hires construction managers at multiple project levels. In Kansas City, Burns & McDonnell and JE Dunn Construction are known for hiring internationally for complex infrastructure and commercial builds.

The H-1B visa is the most common visa for construction managers in Missouri, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Candidates with relevant degrees from accredited programs generally meet the specialty occupation standard. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials. The O-1A is an option for candidates with documented exceptional achievement in the field.
Which cities in Missouri have the most construction manager sponsorship jobs?

Missouri follows federal prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program, meaning employers must pay the DOL-determined wage for construction manager roles in the specific metropolitan area where you'll work. Kansas City and St. Louis have distinct prevailing wage determinations, so compensation expectations differ between the two metros. Missouri's ongoing infrastructure investment, including highway and bridge projects, has increased demand for experienced construction managers with international backgrounds in large-scale project delivery.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction manager jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
