Which companies sponsor visas for DevOps engineers in North Carolina?
Several large technology and enterprise employers in North Carolina have documented histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for DevOps roles. These include Cisco Systems and Red Hat in the Research Triangle Park area, Lenovo's North American headquarters in Morrisville, and major financial institutions like Bank of America and Truist in Charlotte. Government contractors with large Raleigh-Durham presences, such as Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos, also sponsor DevOps positions regularly.
Which visa types are most common for DevOps roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for DevOps engineers in North Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Canadian and Mexican nationals sometimes use the TN visa under the USMCA. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT from programs at NC State or UNC Chapel Hill often transition directly into H-1B sponsorship with their employer.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most DevOps sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill collectively form the Research Triangle, which is by far the densest concentration of DevOps sponsorship activity in North Carolina. The Triangle's tech and life sciences ecosystem draws a high volume of H-1B filings. Charlotte is the second-largest hub, driven by its financial services sector, where cloud infrastructure and DevOps roles are increasingly common. Smaller pockets of activity exist in Morrisville, Cary, and Winston-Salem.
How to find devops visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated platform for international job seekers and filters DevOps roles specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify North Carolina employers actively willing to sponsor. Because many companies list roles without mentioning sponsorship explicitly, a specialized tool like Migrate Mate removes guesswork. Focusing your search on Research Triangle Park companies and Charlotte's fintech sector will surface the highest volume of relevant opportunities in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for DevOps visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina employers filing H-1B Labor Condition Applications must attest to paying the prevailing wage for DevOps roles in the specific metropolitan area, whether Raleigh-Durham or Charlotte, since DOL prevailing wage determinations differ by location. Research Triangle Park is a designated foreign trade zone with a high density of tech and life sciences employers, which means strong familiarity with visa processes among local HR teams. NC State's proximity to RTP also creates an established pipeline that many Triangle employers actively recruit through.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored devops jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
