As a DevOps Engineer in the Retail Media Network (RMN), you will be a primary driver in architecting and automating RMN’s AWS-native infrastructure. You will be responsible for building dedicated AWS environments from the ground up, ensuring they are secure, high-performing, and observable. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

- Support our expansion into GCP by helping design landing zones and GKE clusters
- Create reusable infrastructure modules that empower engineering teams
- Monitor system health and reliability through SLOs and observability tools
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or SRE with strong AWS experience
- 2 years of hands-on experience using Terraform for infrastructure-as-code
- 2 years operating Kubernetes in production environments (EKS preferred)
- 1 year of practical experience with ArgoCD or similar GitOps tools (e.g., Flux)
- 1 year of experience working with cloud networking components, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancers, and security groups.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year of experience working with GCP and/or GKE
- 1 year of experience using Crossplane for cloud resource orchestration
- 1 year of scripting or automation experience using Python or Go
- 1 year of experience using observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar. Bonus: 1+ year of experience working in AdTech, Retail Media Networks, or other high-growth, high-scale environments

Which companies sponsor visas for DevOps engineers in Minnesota?
Large enterprises with established immigration programs are the most consistent sponsors. In Minnesota, UnitedHealth Group, Target, Best Buy, 3M, and Optum regularly file H-1B petitions for DevOps and infrastructure roles. Regional financial institutions like U.S. Bank and Ameriprise Financial also sponsor, particularly for DevOps engineers supporting cloud migration and security initiatives. Staffing firms and smaller startups sponsor less frequently.
Which visa types are most common for DevOps roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for DevOps engineers in Minnesota, as most roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify for the TN visa under the Computer Systems Analyst category. Australians with the right qualifications can explore the E-3. L-1B transfers are an option for employees moving from an overseas office of a Minnesota-based multinational.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most DevOps visa sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul account for the vast majority of DevOps sponsorship activity in Minnesota. The greater Twin Cities metro, including suburbs like Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, and Plymouth, hosts the headquarters and major offices of the state's largest tech employers. Rochester has a secondary concentration tied to IBM and Mayo Clinic's IT operations. Outside the Twin Cities corridor, sponsorship opportunities are significantly more limited.
How to find devops visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a practical starting point for DevOps roles in Minnesota. You can filter by state and role to surface employers who have a documented history of sponsoring visas for DevOps engineers in the Twin Cities and broader Minnesota market. Focusing on companies with active H-1B filing histories in healthcare IT, retail technology, and financial services gives you the most targeted results.
Are there any state-specific considerations for DevOps sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota's DevOps market is heavily shaped by its healthcare IT sector, which means many sponsored roles sit at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and regulated data environments, requiring familiarity with HIPAA-compliant systems. The University of Minnesota and local coding programs feed a competitive local talent pool, so international candidates benefit from highlighting specialized cloud certifications, Kubernetes experience, or expertise in platforms like AWS and Azure that differentiate them in the applicant pool.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored devops jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
