Which companies sponsor visas for DevOps engineers in Massachusetts?
Major Massachusetts employers with documented DevOps visa sponsorship include Amazon Web Services, Raytheon Technologies, HubSpot, MathWorks, Wayfair, Fidelity Investments, and Liberty Mutual. Boston's biotech cluster, including companies like Biogen and Moderna, also sponsors DevOps roles to support cloud-based research infrastructure. Sponsorship patterns vary by employer size, hiring volume, and the specific DevOps function being filled.
Which visa types are most common for DevOps roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for DevOps engineers in Massachusetts, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates with approved I-140 petitions may work on H-1B extensions while awaiting a green card. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B visa cap.
How to find devops visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters DevOps roles by state and employer sponsorship history, making it straightforward to identify Massachusetts-based companies actively hiring international candidates. Search for DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering roles filtered to Massachusetts. Prioritize employers in Greater Boston's tech and biotech corridors, where sponsorship is more common due to sustained demand for specialized cloud and infrastructure talent.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most DevOps sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of DevOps sponsorship activity in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of tech companies, financial services firms, and life sciences organizations. Waltham and Burlington, both along the Route 128 technology corridor, are also significant hiring centers. Worcester has a smaller but growing presence, largely connected to its university and healthcare institution ecosystem.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific factors that affect DevOps visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts employers filing H-1B petitions must pay prevailing wages as determined by the Department of Labor for the specific role and metropolitan area. Boston is classified as a high-cost labor market, which generally results in higher prevailing wage requirements for DevOps positions. The state's strong university pipeline, particularly from MIT, Boston University, and Northeastern, means employers are experienced with international hiring and OPT-to-H-1B transitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored devops jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
