Which companies sponsor visas for DevOps engineers in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's largest visa sponsors for DevOps roles tend to be energy sector companies headquartered in Oklahoma City, including Devon Energy and ONEOK, as well as telecommunications firms and defense contractors operating near Tinker Air Force Base. Larger national employers with Oklahoma offices, such as AT&T and Boeing subsidiaries, have documented H-1B sponsorship histories for infrastructure and DevOps engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for DevOps roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for DevOps engineers in Oklahoma, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may also pursue TN status under the USMCA using the Computer Systems Analyst category, which some DevOps roles can satisfy depending on job duties.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most DevOps visa sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City accounts for the majority of DevOps sponsorship activity in the state, driven by energy sector headquarters, state government IT modernization projects, and healthcare technology employers. Tulsa is the second most active market, with a growing tech community centered around the Tulsa Innovation Labs initiative and financial services companies. Norman has a smaller presence tied to University of Oklahoma research and affiliated technology firms.
How to find devops visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate filters DevOps jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse Oklahoma-based roles without sifting through positions that won't support international candidates. Search for DevOps or related titles on Migrate Mate and filter to Oklahoma to surface companies actively sponsoring in the state. Pairing that with research into energy sector and defense contractor employers in Oklahoma City and Tulsa will help you target the most active sponsoring industries.
Are there any state-specific considerations for DevOps engineers seeking sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's DevOps market is heavily influenced by the energy industry, so familiarity with industrial control systems, cloud infrastructure for data-heavy operations, or pipeline management software can strengthen a candidate's profile with local employers. The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University produce computer science graduates but have limited international DevOps pipeline programs, meaning experienced international candidates often compete favorably against the local talent pool for specialized roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored devops jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
