Which companies sponsor visas for QA automation engineers in North Carolina?
Companies with a track record of sponsoring QA automation engineers in North Carolina include Lenovo (global HQ in Morrisville), Red Hat, Bandwidth, and Fidelity's Raleigh tech hub. Large healthcare IT employers like Labcorp and Syneos Health also hire automation engineers and have filed H-1B visa petitions. Consulting firms with North Carolina delivery centers, including Infosys and Cognizant, are frequent sponsors for QA roles as well.
Which visa types are most common for QA automation engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for QA automation engineers in North Carolina, as software quality engineering meets the specialty occupation standard requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. L-1B visas apply for intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge of proprietary test frameworks or platforms. Candidates from Australia may also qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may explore the TN visa under the engineer category.
How to find qa automation engineer visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters QA automation engineer jobs specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, so you're not sorting through roles that won't support international candidates. Search on Migrate Mate and filter to North Carolina to surface relevant openings in the Research Triangle and Charlotte tech markets. Prioritizing employers who have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications in prior years is a useful signal of genuine sponsorship experience.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most QA automation engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Research Triangle, covering Raleigh, Durham, and the Research Triangle Park corridor, accounts for the majority of QA automation engineering sponsorship activity in North Carolina. Charlotte is a secondary hub, driven by fintech, banking technology, and insurance IT employers. Smaller concentrations exist in Cary and Morrisville, where technology companies including Lenovo and Bandwidth maintain significant engineering operations.
What should international QA automation engineers know about the North Carolina job market before applying?
North Carolina's QA automation market leans heavily on test frameworks like Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright, along with CI/CD integration experience. The state's university pipeline, including NC State and UNC Chapel Hill, means competition for entry-level roles can be high. Candidates with experience in regulated industries such as life sciences, financial services, or enterprise software tend to see stronger sponsorship interest, since those sectors operate large QA functions at major North Carolina employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa automation engineer jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
