Which companies sponsor visas for QA automation engineers in Texas?
Large technology and enterprise employers in Texas with histories of H-1B visa sponsorship for QA automation roles include Dell Technologies, Texas Instruments, AT&T, Oracle, and IBM. Major consulting firms like Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Cognizant also file significant numbers of petitions in Texas. Fintech companies and healthcare IT firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin metro areas have also become active sponsors in this space.
Which cities in Texas have the most QA automation engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads in QA automation engineer sponsorship activity, driven by its dense concentration of tech companies and startups. Dallas-Fort Worth follows closely, with strong demand from enterprise software, fintech, and telecom employers. Houston adds meaningful volume through energy-tech and healthcare IT companies. San Antonio has a smaller but growing presence, particularly around cybersecurity and defense contractors that require QA engineering talent.
Which visa types are most common for QA automation engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for QA automation engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Some international candidates also enter on OPT or STEM OPT extensions before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose qualifications align with covered engineering categories.
How to find qa automation engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find QA automation engineer roles in Texas without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by city, including Austin, Dallas, and Houston, where sponsorship activity is highest. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on international candidates, so every listing is relevant to your situation as a visa-seeking professional.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for QA automation engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects how employers calculate prevailing wage compliance under Department of Labor rules, though federal prevailing wage requirements still fully apply. The state's large university pipeline from UT Austin, Texas A&M, and UT Dallas produces OPT candidates who often transition to sponsored roles, meaning employers in major metros are generally experienced with the H-1B process. Competition is strongest in Austin, so broadening your search to Dallas or Houston can improve your options.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa automation engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
