Which companies sponsor visas for industrial engineers in Ohio?
Ohio-based manufacturers and consumer goods companies are among the more active sponsors for industrial engineers. Honda's manufacturing operations in Marysville and East Liberty, Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, and medical device companies like Steris and Invacare in the Cleveland area have all filed Labor Condition Applications for industrial engineering roles. Large defense and aerospace contractors operating in the Dayton corridor, including L3Harris, also appear in federal LCA disclosure data for this role type.
Which visa types are most common for industrial engineer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for industrial engineers in Ohio, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a closely related field. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship pursue the TN visa under the USMCA, which covers industrial engineers explicitly and does not require a lottery. Australians with qualifying degrees may be eligible for the E-3 visa.
Which cities in Ohio have the most industrial engineer sponsorship jobs?
Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati account for the largest share of industrial engineer sponsorship activity in Ohio. Columbus benefits from a broad manufacturing and logistics base, while Cincinnati anchors a dense consumer goods and chemical manufacturing corridor. Cleveland draws demand from healthcare manufacturing and metal fabrication industries. Dayton has a notable concentration of aerospace and defense employers, and Toledo's glass and automotive supply chain generates additional openings.
How to find industrial engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Ohio employers actively hiring industrial engineers on work visas. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can search directly for industrial engineer roles in Ohio where sponsorship is confirmed. This is particularly useful given that sponsorship willingness varies significantly by employer size and industry, even within Ohio's manufacturing sector.
Are there any Ohio-specific factors industrial engineers should know about visa sponsorship here?
Ohio's strong ties to Big Ten engineering programs, particularly Ohio State University, mean many employers in the state are already familiar with OPT and H-1B hiring pipelines. The state's manufacturing density means prevailing wage determinations for industrial engineers often reflect unionized production environments, which can influence how employers structure sponsored roles. Candidates targeting smaller regional manufacturers should note that first-time sponsors may have longer lead times for LCA filing and attorney engagement.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored industrial engineer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
