Which companies in Ohio sponsor visas for project superintendents?
Large general contractors with active Ohio operations are the most consistent sponsors. Turner Construction, Messer Construction Co., Gilbane Building Company, and Whiting-Turner have all filed for skilled construction management roles in Ohio. Firms working on major public infrastructure, hospital expansions, and data center projects tend to have the HR infrastructure and legal resources to support H-1B visa or other sponsorship pathways for experienced superintendents.
What visa types are most commonly used to sponsor project superintendents in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa category used for project superintendent roles, though it requires the employer to establish that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation, typically supported by a relevant bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture. The EB-3 employment-based green card is another pathway some Ohio contractors pursue for long-term hires. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials.
Which Ohio cities have the most project superintendent visa sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads the state for construction activity, driven by significant data center investment, healthcare campus expansions, and Intel's semiconductor manufacturing project in Licking County. Cleveland and Cincinnati also generate consistent demand, particularly for commercial and institutional builds. Dayton and Toledo see sponsorship activity tied to manufacturing facility construction. Columbus-based roles represent the largest share of documented H-1B filings for construction management positions in Ohio.
How to find project superintendent visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the United States. You can filter directly for project superintendent roles in Ohio to see employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. This is more targeted than a general job search because listings are curated for sponsorship eligibility, which matters when you're evaluating whether to invest time in an application as an international candidate.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for project superintendents seeking visa sponsorship?
Ohio's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are set by the Department of Labor and tied to the specific metro area where the work is performed, so Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati each have different wage thresholds. Ohio also has a strong pipeline of construction talent from universities like Ohio State and Cincinnati, which means international candidates typically need demonstrable experience on complex project types, such as healthcare, mission-critical facilities, or large industrial builds, to stand out to sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project superintendent jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
