Which companies sponsor visas for technical support technicians in Ohio?
Ohio employers with documented H-1B sponsorship activity for technical support roles include Nationwide Insurance and JPMorgan Chase in Columbus, KeyBank and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, and Procter & Gamble and Kroger Technology in Cincinnati. Large healthcare systems like OhioHealth and university IT departments at Ohio State University also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for technical support positions.
Which visa types are most common for technical support technician roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical support technicians in Ohio, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science or information technology. Some employers also sponsor TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals where the role meets USMCA requirements. Employers file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before petitioning USCIS.
Which cities in Ohio have the most technical support technician sponsorship jobs?
Columbus accounts for the largest share of sponsored technical support technician roles in Ohio, driven by its concentration of financial services firms, insurance companies, and a growing tech sector. Cleveland is the second-largest market, supported by healthcare IT and financial institutions. Cincinnati rounds out the top three, with demand from consumer goods companies and regional banks. Dayton also sees sponsorship activity tied to defense contractors and aerospace firms.
How to find technical support technician visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search technical support technician roles in Ohio without sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. The platform pulls together openings from Ohio employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness, covering Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and surrounding markets. Filtering by state and role on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to identify active sponsorship opportunities in this field.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for technical support technicians in Ohio?
Ohio's large public university system, including Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University, produces a significant pipeline of international graduates on OPT who transition into sponsored roles. Employers in Ohio are required to pay the prevailing wage for the specific metropolitan area where work is performed, so rates differ between Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Ohio also has active H-1B dependent employers in the IT services sector, which means some companies face stricter attestation requirements under Department of Labor rules.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical support technician jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
