Which companies in Oklahoma sponsor visas for data science engineers?
Oklahoma employers with a track record of H-1B sponsorship for technical roles include Love's Travel Stops, ONEOK, Devon Energy, and American Airlines' Tulsa maintenance operations. University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University also sponsor data science engineers for research and institutional positions. Energy, aerospace, and logistics companies tend to be the most active sponsors in this state.
Which visa types are most common for data science engineer roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data science engineers in Oklahoma, since the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, statistics, or a related field, qualifying it as a specialty occupation. Candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT extension often transition to H-1B through employer sponsorship. O-1A petitions are an option for engineers with a strong research or publication record.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City accounts for the largest share of data science engineering positions in the state, driven by corporate headquarters in energy, retail, and financial services. Tulsa is the second major hub, particularly around aerospace and manufacturing analytics at companies like NORDAM and American Airlines. Stillwater and Norman see smaller but steady hiring through their respective universities and affiliated research programs.
How to find data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, so you can filter directly for data science engineer roles in Oklahoma without sorting through positions that won't sponsor. The platform surfaces employers who have sponsored H-1B and other work visas for technical roles, saving significant time. Filtering by state lets you focus on Oklahoma City and Tulsa employers where sponsorship activity is highest.
Are there any Oklahoma-specific factors data science engineers should know when pursuing sponsorship?
Oklahoma's energy sector drives a significant share of data science engineering demand, so candidates with experience in geospatial analysis, production optimization, or IoT sensor data have a competitive edge with employers like Devon Energy and ONEOK. The University of Oklahoma's data science programs also create a local graduate pipeline that some employers prefer, meaning international candidates benefit from demonstrating specializations not easily sourced domestically.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science engineer jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
