Which companies in Oklahoma sponsor visas for project development managers?
Energy companies are the most active sponsors in Oklahoma, including Williams Companies, Devon Energy, and ONEOK, all headquartered in Tulsa. Oklahoma City-based firms in aerospace and defense, such as Boeing's local operations and FlightSafety International, also have a track record of H-1B visa sponsorship for project management roles. Large construction and engineering contractors working on infrastructure projects across the state are additional sources of sponsorship.
What visa types are most commonly used for project development manager roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project development managers in Oklahoma, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, business, or project management. The L-1A is an option for managers transferring within a multinational company. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA treaty, which covers certain management and engineering roles without requiring H-1B lottery selection.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most project development manager visa sponsorship jobs?
Tulsa is Oklahoma's primary hub for sponsored project development manager positions, driven by its concentration of energy companies, engineering firms, and aerospace manufacturers. Oklahoma City is a strong secondary market, with activity in government contracting, defense, and healthcare infrastructure. Smaller markets like Broken Arrow and Enid see occasional openings tied to manufacturing and energy pipeline projects, though volume is significantly lower than in the two main metros.
How to find project development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter project development manager roles by state, including Oklahoma. This is more efficient than broad job searches because listings are screened for sponsorship availability. Given that Oklahoma's sponsorship activity is concentrated in energy and aerospace, filtering by industry on Migrate Mate can help you identify the employers most likely to support an H-1B or other work visa petition.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for project development managers in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's energy sector dominance shapes the sponsorship market considerably. Project development manager roles tied to oil and gas, pipeline infrastructure, or power generation tend to require specialized engineering backgrounds, which strengthens the specialty occupation case for H-1B petitions. Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma produce engineering and business graduates who enter the local talent pool, so employers may have established international hiring pipelines through those institutions. Prevailing wage requirements still apply and are determined by Department of Labor standards for the Tulsa and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project development manager jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
