Which companies sponsor visas for project development managers in New York?
Large employers with consistent sponsorship track records for project development managers in New York include JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Verizon, IBM, Turner Construction, and Skanska. Real estate developers such as Related Companies and Tishman Speyer also hire for these roles. Sponsorship activity tends to concentrate at firms with dedicated HR and legal infrastructure to manage H-1B visa and similar petitions.
Which visa types are most common for project development manager roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project development managers in New York, given that the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as engineering, business, or construction management. Managers with multinational backgrounds may also enter through the L-1A intracompany transferee category. Candidates with extraordinary achievement in project leadership may explore the O-1A, though that path requires substantial documented evidence.
How to find project development manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find project development manager roles in New York that include visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs specifically by sponsorship availability, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who won't support international candidates. Searching within the New York filter on Migrate Mate surfaces roles across industries including construction, finance, technology, and infrastructure development.
Which cities in New York have the most project development manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the vast majority of project development manager sponsorship opportunities in the state, particularly in Manhattan and Brooklyn where finance, tech, and real estate firms are concentrated. Albany sees demand driven by state government contractors and infrastructure projects. Buffalo and Rochester have a growing presence in manufacturing and energy development, with some sponsoring employers tied to large-scale infrastructure investment programs.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for project development managers seeking visa sponsorship?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are set to reflect the high cost of living in the New York City metro area, meaning employers must meet Department of Labor wage determinations specific to the region. New York is also home to several engineering and business programs at Columbia University, Cornell Tech, and NYU that feed talent pipelines into project development roles, and some employers actively recruit internationally through those institutions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project development manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
