Which companies sponsor visas for electrical project engineers in Oregon?
Intel's Hillsboro campus is among the most active sponsors for electrical project engineers in Oregon, particularly for semiconductor facility and power distribution roles. PacifiCorp, AECOM, WSP, and Burns McDonnell also file sponsorship petitions for electrical engineers on utility and infrastructure projects. Smaller engineering consultancies and clean energy developers in the Portland metro area have also shown consistent sponsorship activity for this role category.
Which visa types are most common for electrical project engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for electrical project engineers in Oregon, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN status under the engineer category. L-1B visas appear in multinational engineering firms transferring employees to Oregon offices.
Which cities in Oregon have the most electrical project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and the surrounding metro area, including Hillsboro and Beaverton, account for the largest share of electrical project engineer sponsorship jobs in Oregon. Intel's presence in Hillsboro drives significant demand for facility and power systems engineers. Eugene and Corvallis see smaller but consistent activity, partly tied to University of Oregon and Oregon State University research partnerships and regional utility projects.
How to find electrical project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for electrical project engineer roles in Oregon without sorting through positions that won't support your visa. The platform surfaces roles from employers with documented sponsorship history in this field, including large engineering firms and semiconductor companies active in the Portland metro area. Filtering by state and role type helps narrow results to relevant Oregon opportunities.
Are there state-specific considerations for electrical project engineers seeking sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon's prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor rules apply to H-1B petitions, so employers sponsoring electrical project engineers must meet wage levels benchmarked to the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metro area or the relevant Oregon county. Oregon State University's strong electrical engineering program creates a local graduate pipeline that some employers draw from, and familiarity with Oregon's grid interconnection standards and PacifiCorp territory regulations can be relevant for utility-sector roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electrical project engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
