Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for legal directors?
Oregon's largest visa sponsors for senior legal roles include Nike, Intel, and Adidas North America in the Portland metro area, alongside healthcare systems like Providence and Oregon Health & Science University. Oregon's public universities, including the University of Oregon and Oregon State University, also sponsor legal leadership positions through H-1B visa petitions filed on an institutional basis.
Which visa types are most common for legal director roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for legal directors in Oregon, as the role typically requires a Juris Doctor and meets the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with extraordinary legal recognition may qualify for the O-1A. Those transferring within a multinational company, such as from a European or Asia-Pacific headquarters to an Oregon office, may be eligible for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa.
Which cities in Oregon have the most legal director visa sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the majority of legal director sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 regional headquarters, large healthcare systems, and technology firms. Salem draws demand through state government and regulatory agencies, though sponsorship is less common in the public sector. Eugene sees activity through the University of Oregon and its affiliated entities.
How to find legal director visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters legal director roles specifically by visa sponsorship, letting you focus on Oregon employers who have an active history of H-1B or other work visa filings for senior legal positions. Rather than sorting through general job boards, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is confirmed or indicated, which matters at the legal director level where employer willingness varies significantly.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for legal directors seeking visa sponsorship?
Oregon's H-1B prevailing wage requirements for legal directors reflect Portland's competitive legal market, so employers must meet Department of Labor wage determinations before filing. Oregon's strong technology and healthcare sectors create genuine demand for experienced in-house legal leadership, which supports sponsorship decisions. Foreign-trained lawyers should note that Oregon State Bar admission requires passing the Oregon bar exam regardless of visa status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored legal director jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
